Lets Talk Food

As the Autumn comes around I want to share recipes with you that will warm your soul. Spices like cloves, nutmeg, cinnamon, mixed with seasonal veggies. I love the feeling of a crisp Autumn day and to come home and enjoy a soothing meal with a nice glass of wine in the company of friends ranks top on my list. The colors of Autumn also can inspire your cooking, so let the reds, oranges, yellows and browns decorate your table and comfort your bellies. As the weather gets colder our bodies desire more rich foods, so as long as you keep exercising, indulge yourself.

So cooking seems to be the “in” thing right now…with programs from Master Chef to Hell´s Kitchen. Personally I don´t enjoy all the stress and competition that goes on in the kitchen during these programs. It takes away the joy and relaxation that cooking can bring. I am a strong believer that the way we feel goes into our cooking, hence if you are happy and feeling good about yourself the end result of a meal is generally positive. Whereas, if you are cooking out of obligation very little love and inspiration goes into the meal and this reflects on the overall composition. One of my favorite books is “Like Water for Chocolate” by Laura Esquivel. In this romance novel the only way the character of a young woman can express her emotions is through cooking. She transfers her feelings into her food and whoever eats the food feels what she was feeling during the making of the meal. In summary put a lot of TLC into cooking and the chances of it coming out well are pretty good.

  1. I am by no means a cook, let alone a chef. Reading your thoughts about cooking makes the whole process seem so much less intimidating. I'm aiming to step up my skills in the kitchen in order to look after myself better and what a great place to start! The recipes are simple, creative and in short make my mouth begin to water. Will keep you posted on my achievements... :)
